Castiglione della Pescaia

Castiglione della Pescaia

South of Follonica, continuing on the road that runs along the coast, you’ll find the popular seaside resort of Castiglione della Pescaia, with its beaches and its vast pine forests that extend for kilometres from Punta Ala to Marina di Grosseto. A cycle path runs along the whole coast of Castiglione della Pescaia and you’ll be spoilt for choice of fine sandy beaches to relax on, with a choice of well-equipped beach resorts or more secluded and quiet locations. From the ancient medieval village dominated by the 15th century castle, the view sweeps across the blue sea to the green pine forests, passing through the ancient marshes which today form the Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve, considered the most significant wetland area in Italy, where you can admire the pink flamingos.
